The Easter Bunny this year made his first appearance on Wednesday, 31 March 2021, when he surprised children of the Toekomstuiste foster home in Pretoria with a fun-filled day.
According to Dinah Bronkhorst, CEO of Care Protect Invest South Africa (CPI SA), a benefactor Léan Jacobs took the initiative to raise funds for a jolly Easter by hosting a charity race from Pretoria to Johannesburg last Sunday. A variety of cars were involved, ranging from vintage cars, drag racers to brand new vehicles.
“Consequently our Easter this year adopted a drag racing theme! Children were entertained with treats and activities, including a racetrack where they could compete with toy cars. The funds Léan raised were more than sufficient to even make a donation towards the maintenance fund of Toekomstuiste,” Bronkhorst says.
The foster home currently houses six children between the ages of three and ten. Often it accommodates siblings from the same family. According to Bronkhorst Toekomstuiste sets a great example as to how an intimate home for foster care children can be established successfully.
“Our children feel safe, secure and loved. I wish everyone could have had the same starting-blocks in life. The reality for these children however differs. Our foster home therefor focuses on equipping children with an education, the necessary skillsets and values so that they can vigorously take on their future with confidence! CPI SA is grateful for the selfless support by individuals and institutions, making our work easier,” says Bronkhorst.
