|| PRESS RELEASE || Renew Your Roots Rally

Care Protect Invest South Africa (CPI SA) this spring was inspired by the wise words of Marty Rubin, ‘The deep roots never doubt spring will come’, and encourages the public to celebrate old friendships and life by hosting a fun fundraiser (link) in their garden.

“Roots hold the promise that something great will grow from it. As in the case of one’s childhood, friendships, careers, etc. You can cut all the flowers and trim all the branches, but you cannot keep spring from coming when your heart is anchored in the right place,” says Dinah Bronkhorst, the executive head of CPI SA.

This Article 18A, non-profit organisation strives to and successfully makes a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. The root of their calling is to offer:

  • Training environment programmes (Arthur Project, K9 Watchdog), skills development programmes to combat unemployment (Soft skills, Handy work, Trade) as well as advanced programmes (Financial Management, Safety and Emotional Intelligence).
  • Counselling and trauma support for abused women and children.
  • Interest free study loans and bursaries programmes granting children a prosperous future.
  • And drive feeding programmes (they feed more than 250 children daily and provide groceries to over 130 families weekly).

Their worthy cause to establish sustainable programmes, feeding schemes and a foster care model that changes the fate of South African children however cannot operate without fundraisers.

“We therefor invite South Africans to host a get-together in their gardens during the month of September in celebration of spring and heritage month. Download an invitation from our ‘host a fundraiser’ option (link) on our website and donate money towards a greater good,” she explains.

According to Bronkhorst this ‘Renew your Roots Rally’ fun fundraiser is a welcome excuse to renew or celebrate old friendships while finding purpose in anchoring a root for others.

“It is up to you whether you are game for ‘tea for two’ or if you want to add some meaning to your heritage braai with a group of friends later this month. There are two gifts we should give all children: one is roots and the other is wings. Here is an opportunity to take our hand in offering them both,” she says.

All money raised, no matter the amount, can easily be transferred electronically via their website https://cpi-sa.org.za/donate/.

Bags of Mercy Initiative

South Africa has one of the highest rates of violence against women (GBV). The Bags of Mercy Initiative mobilises women to become an invisible friend to an abused woman by gifting a handbag – old or new – filled with things that can make her rediscover her self-worth.

Abuse against women usually takes place behind closed doors:
Hard words where no-one else can hear.
Blows where no-one can see it.
