Child Protection Week 2021: Invest in our children’s future, pleas CPI-SA

Children are a country’s most valuable asset: they are our future! Without their enthusiasm to learn and willingness to take the baton of responsibility from us when their time has come to enter the workforce and flourish, we have epically failed them.

This is why Care Protect Invest South Africa (CPI-SA) during SA’s Child Protection Week (CPW) wants to stress how important and easy it is to live out the values they stand for: to care, to protect and to invest.

“By investing in the future of SA’s children, willing individuals or companies can play a major role in changing the destiny of suppressed bright students; making them captains of several industries and shaping them to be our future leaders! By sponsoring someone’s further or tertiary education, you are making a generous contribution to our economy and positively impacting our country as a whole,” says Dinah Bronkhorst, Executive Head of CPI-SA.

On a daily scale South Africans are being confronted with the reality of poverty, neglect, child abuse and sexual violence committed against children. By progressively ensuring there is hope for brighter future, CPI-SA is hopeful that their bursary fund programme — granting underprivileged students the opportunity to reach their full potential by making a tertiary education easier accessible — will end the evil cycle of unemployment and helps colouring a better tomorrow for SA’s children.

“Apart from changing someone’s life story, bursary programmes are an effective and sustainable solution in adding value to a company’s social responsibility (CSR) portfolio. Not to mention the tax benefit you can receive by making this annual donation. CPI-SA therefor invites businesses to partake in this wonderful event that genuinely had helped young, aspiring South Africans to reach their full potential over the past 16 years,” says Bronkhorst.

According to her the problem concerning our broken society can be fixed by substituting talented and eager students dismaying financial circumstances with the option to pursue a tertiary education.

“This year our effort to raise awareness of the rights of children during CPW can be fruitful. Our children did not ask to be here. It is our obligation to shape them into becoming extraordinary human beings. Let CPI-SA help you to invest in making a difference, the outcome will be rewarding I can promise,” Bronkhorst says.

Bags of Mercy Initiative

South Africa has one of the highest rates of violence against women (GBV). The Bags of Mercy Initiative mobilises women to become an invisible friend to an abused woman by gifting a handbag – old or new – filled with things that can make her rediscover her self-worth.

Abuse against women usually takes place behind closed doors:
Hard words where no-one else can hear.
Blows where no-one can see it.

Be a Santa to someone Project

Each Christmas we strive to surprise the children at our foster care homes and caring facilities with a special gift. This way you can easily warm a child’s heart and put a cheer into an unfortunate child’s Christmas stocking.
